The aim of the project "Let's get to know each other better through common heritage and memory" carried out by the Marshal Józef Piłsudski Reserve Officers Union from January 21 to July 18, 2025 and financed under the V4 Gen Mini-Grants program by the Bratislava-based International Visegrad Fund was primarily to better understand our shared history, including regional history related to the events of 1956 in Poland and Hungary, and in particular to popularize the commemorations of subsequent anniversaries and interesting places related to the events of 1956, but also to learn about everyday life and forecast a shared future through mutual contacts between students from schools in Poznań, Budapest, and Gyulafirátót near Veszprém. Young radio amateurs, project participants from both countries associated with the SP3PGR and HA2GY amateur radio clubs, were able to exchange experiences and, in cooperation with veterans' associations, organized the Polish-Hungarian Major Jerzy Grabus Poznań Contest (Poznań June 1956) on June 22, 2025, commemorating the heroes of the 1956 events on the streets of Poznań.
The project involved 20 participants from each country, aged 13-14 and 12-27 years old. Most of them were amateur radio operators, but also included students
interested in history, winners of history competitions, and 6-7 people from each country over 30 years of age who acted as student mentors. Our partners in this
project were:
Budapest Amateur Radio Association /BRASZ/ based in Budapest,
Zofia Nalkowska Primary School No. 18 in Poznań,
Maria Dabrowska Primary School No. 46 in Poznań,
John Paul II 37th High School with Therapeutic Departments in Poznań.
During two four-day visits to Hungary and Poland in May and June, project participants, in addition to visits to partner schools and field trips, also participated
in the commemorations of the 69th anniversary of the Poznań June 1956, met with veterans, and visited 1956 memorial sites in both countries. Click the appropriate button

that will be made available to all project partner communities after the summer holidays, in September 2025.
